NEAF Going Virtual Due to COVID-19 Concerns

In a precautionary move prompted by increasing concerns over the COVID-19 virus, Rockland Astronomy Club members have made the responsible decision to forgo all in-person activities related to the highly anticipated Northeast Astronomy Forum and move the event exclusively online.

Optolong understands this decision was not made lightly, and we heartily agree with convention organizers that the health and safety of colleagues, customers, and staff is of utmost importance. This is the frist time to hold the virtual NEAF event, that must be very interesting.

“We have the technology to do it, and as they say, ‘the show must go on’,” said NEAF board member Ed Siemenn about the decision to cancel events at Rockland Community College, where the event has been traditionally held. “We will bring world-class NEAF Talks featuring some of the most prominent personalities in space and astronomy, and the world’s largest shopping opportunity for astronomy equipment to computers and smart phones around the globe with NEAF: The Virtual Experience on April 4th.”

Although details for this historic online event are still evolving, attendees will experience the product demonstrations, door prizes and amazing speakers that have made the Northeast Astronomy Forum legendary.

Optolong will try to join in. We would like to support the astronomy community today and in the future.

More information about NEAF: The Virtual Experience will be available at as details are released.

Additionally, the RAC has rescheduled NEAIC and NEAF at Rockland Community College in this September.

NEAF will be held Sept 12th & 13th, 2020 at RCC, Rockland Community College, Suffern, NY.  NEAF will be held in the same format as previous shows with no changes.
NEAIC will be held on Sept 14th & 15th at the Crowne Plaza. Note: for this reschedule event only, NEAIC will follow NEAF as opposed to preceding it.  This is due to scheduling difficulties with the hotel where NEAIC is held.

Optolong with our representative Terry Hancock are looking forward to meeting you then!
