The Blue Horsehead Nebula – IC 4592
IC 4592 is a reflection nebula visible in the constellation Scorpio that resembles the shape of a horse's head. (Not to be confused with B33 in Orion)
It is located in the northern part of the constellation and completely surrounds the star ν Scorpii, a blue subgiant of magnitude 4.13 from which it receives its blue light.
It can be observed from both hemispheres, although the southern hemisphere is the most suitable, and is visible in the evening sky from May to October.
The distance of this nebular complex from the solar system is approximately 436 light years.
