NEW FILTER TEST!! on the amazing North America Nebula. Optolong Filters asked me if I would test their new filter, L-Synergy and of course I jumped at the chance. This is a narrowband filter designed for color cameras that isolates Oxygen and Sulphur ionized light from nebulas. It’s designed to be used in combination with the L-eXtreme filter to create amazing Hubble Pallette (SHO) images without the need for a mono camera and three separate filters. I have to say I was quite impressed with the first result and I’m now trying it on other nebula. The sulphur signal was very strong on this image and I separated the signals based on colors from the two separate images taken with the two filters. I then combined them like I would any SHO image. I think for those that want to do SHO imaging but don’t want to buy a mono camera and all the filters, this would be a great option. This will also work great for those imaging from more light polluted skies. I plan to share more results and more details about the filter when they are available. I should also say this is my first image with my new Askar FRA400 telescope!
