Art & Astrophotography

Art is a diverse range of human activities in creating visual, auditory or performing artifacts (artworks), expressing the author's imaginative, conceptual ideas, or technical skill, intended to be appreciated for their beauty or emotional power.

The three classical branches of art are painting, sculpture and architecture.

Though the definition of what constitutes art is disputed and has changed over time, general descriptions mention an idea of imaginative or technical skill stemming from human agency and creation. The nature of art and related concepts, such as creativity and interpretation, are explored in a branch of philosophy known as aesthetics.

Art comes from life. How the Messier related to art?

What makes themselves mysterious and beautiful is invisible to our naked eyes. …

By Optolong astrophotographers  , the art is embodied incisively and vividly.

The Elephant's Trunk nebula©Luca Fornaciari Astrophotography

"How nice it is to take a picture like that in just one night, my results have changed a lot with the latest tools, doing astrophotography is really a satisfaction, we keep improving with every shot, with every change to setup, even after years, and indeed, for me the road is certainly still very long (thankfully)!

Last night while I was holding a seminar to an astrophotographer in the observatory, I let my Sky-Watcher 200/800 photograph where I had quickly fixed some things I wanted to try: the EAF electronic focuser by ZWO with the Hand Controller (I won't do it more for less) and the collimation of the newton with the Hotech self-centering laser collimator (on this telescope it turned out to be quite accurate, a very light finish on the primary mirror by hand and nothing else).

And so here we are again: the Elephant's Trunk nebula, one of my absolute favorite summer subjects, photographed this time with 180 second guided shots, with ASI 294 and Optolong L-eNhance.

Be careful: I have integrated 8% of the color from my previous broadband shots into this image, to slightly recover the many nuances lost on the stars (without much success). If I have it I will in fact integrate new broadband shots to recover the nuances. That's all for now!"

The Pleiades at the Saint Barthelemy Star Party ©Luca Fornaciari Astrophotography
"Someone measured an SQM of 21.8, I didn't do it personally, but I can assure you that the sky was extraordinary, with a gigantic Andromeda galaxy on naked eye.
With the aim of partying and perhaps taking pictures, I had chosen a light setup, consisting of the reduced and flattened Sky-Watcher EVOSTAR 72ED, an ASI 294 and an L-pro Optolong filter.

The Star Party was a collection of extraordinary moments, I thank all the people who came to greet me and who spent a wonderful night with me!!
Special thanks also to Paolo Calcidese for having created such a successful event.
