The Swan Shell Nebula SH2-119
At the heart of the constellation Cygnus, 2,200 light-years away from us, lies one of the least well-known yet most fascinating emission nebulae in the deep sky: SH2-119, nicknamed the Swan Shell Nebula due to its delicate arched shape.
This immense cloud of ionised hydrogen is sculpted by the powerful radiation of the young star 68 Cygni, which slowly shapes the surrounding gas and dust, creating an ever-evolving cosmic landscape that serves as an extraordinary natural laboratory for the study of star formation. 
The luminous filaments tell a story spanning millions of years, one of stellar winds, radiation and constant transformation.
Photographing SH2-119 means looking beyond the sky’s most famous objects and dedicating many hours of exposure to an extremely faint light, invisible to the naked eye but capable of revealing all the hidden beauty of the Universe.
A tiny corner of the cosmos that reminds us how even the most unassuming subjects can harbour extraordinary wonders.
For this astrophotographic project, I created a Hubble Palette SHO, replacing the classic magenta stars – typical of this palette – with those captured in RGB.
